Scientists estimate that the edge of the universe is 13.8 billion light years away (a light year is 5.9 trillion miles). Within that infinite expanse of gas, rock, ice, energy, and dark matter, Earth—yes, our Earth—is the only place in the universe known to support life.


This week, in honor of Earth Day, we are highlighting simple things you can do every Monday to help preserve the healthy and integrity of our planet. Burn calories, not fossil fuels, by taking your bike or public transportation instead of your car; nurture an appreciation for the outdoors with a soothing, tranquil nature walk; and learn how you can cook away your carbon footprint by eating more plant-based foods instead of resource-intensive animal products. This Monday, let’s act with the Earth in mind.
