LiveWell Manistee Spotlight: Manistee Friendship Society

August 29, 2018

Welcome to the first installment of the LiveWell Manistee Spotlight Series. We will be highlighting a LVM coalition member, bi-monthly.

Interviewee Bio:

Hi, I’m Cassandra! I am the Executive Director of the Manistee Friendship Society (drop-in center) and a Certified Peer Support Specialist. I have been working at the drop-in center for over ten years. Prior to working here, I volunteered and attended some self-help groups the center had to offer. They changed my life. Now one of my goals in life is to help others learn different ways to cope with their mental illness and help them live the healthiest-happiest life they can.

When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with my family, going for jogs on our beautiful boardwalk, painting, binge watching Netflix and going to Zumba class! My family, exercise and meditation have been huge supports in my recovery dealing with anxiety and PTSD. Knowing how important it is to have support in your recovery I am so happy to be able to provide support to others in their journey in recovery as well.
